Executive Vice President and Chief Technology Officer
Neville R. Ray serves as T-Mobile’s Executive Vice President and Chief Technology Officer. Mr. Ray has more than 25 years of experience in the design, deployment and operational management of wireless networks in the United States and worldwide, and is recognized for his leadership in the telecommunications industry. Mr. Ray joined T-Mobile USA (then VoiceStream) in April 2000 and since December 2010 has served as its Chief Technology Officer, responsible for the national management and development of the T-Mobile USA wireless network and the company’s IT services and operations. At Mr. Ray’s helm, T-Mobile has nearly tripled its LTE coverage since 2015, has claimed the fastest LTE for four years straight and he has led his team to a string of revolutionary industry firsts.
Prior to joining T-Mobile USA, Mr. Ray served as Network Vice President for Pacific Bell Mobile Services. He currently serves on the Board of Directors of Next Generation Mobile Networks Alliance, a mobile telecommunications association of mobile operators, vendors, manufacturers and research institutes.
Mr. Ray also serves on the Board of Governors of 5G Americas, the industry trade association and voice of 5G and LTE for the Americas. Mr. Ray has a long leadership history with the organization, serving as the Chairperson from 2008 through 2013, and again in 2015. After a brief hiatus from this leadership role, Mr. Ray has again been elected chair for the 2018 term. He has also served as a member of the National Telecommunications and Information Administration’s Commerce Spectrum Management Advisory Committee and the Federal Communications Commission’s Communications Security, Reliability and Interoperability Council. Mr. Ray is an honors graduate of The City University of London and a member of the Institution of Electrical and Electronic Engineers and the Institution of Civil Engineers.
